When I was a rep a few years ago just for fun I gave each customer a teabag and this poem with their brochure...

It gave customers a laugh but it worked lol they used the teabag and sat down with the brochure, most of my customers placed orders in that campaign, try it yourself and see...

I've being bagging up some tea bags with my c8 books, still love this idea. I've a good feeling about this

I did the teabag thing with c17 last year and my sales were quite high but it was the run up to xmas so who knows if it was the teabag doing its thing or people just ordering in time for xmas lol i also put a a wrapped sweet with c18, some people ordered, some didn't, i think at the end of the day people will spend what they want to spend and no amount of coaxing and bribeing will change that. One house tried to take the sweet off the brochure discreetly while i stood at the front door right in front of them! No order, bit of a cheek methinks.

I am rolling out 5% discounts to all my customers who bought between C9 and C12 in 2008, I'll have to do it in stages, cos I do need to make some money

So like last time, I will give them a free sample, a teabag and some sweets along with my business card. I usually put these things in a paper Avon bag and seal it with a label.

It's my way of saying 'thanks' to all my customers. Of course, not all of them will order but my thought was there !

Did anyone use the questionaire for Liiv Botanicals ?

I created a table which I could print 3 per page and put them in all my books. The result was that I have sold 2 face pearls, 1 scrub and 1 eye cream.

I don't think I would have sold them without the paper insert.

Also, since I started including the list of uses for the SSS Bath Oil I have sold at least 3 per campaign. This campaign C10, I have sold 5 bottles of the stuff.

Go on, give it a try.

Also a useful tip, if you are lucky enough to have dry books after each campaign, recycle these slips (as long as they are in good nick) and then it keeps your ink usage down.

I'm using the 33 uses for sss dry oil in campagin 11 & so far have 4 orders for it.

I got a new road added onto my terrietory so i did c12 which SSS was on offer and thought oh perfect! and printed off the 33 uses.

Out of the 50 new houses i delivered my c12 brochures with the 33 uses of SSS i got NOTHING! i was so shocked!

Half the people didnt leave the book on the doorstep, wasnt in to ask for it, and didnt leave it out the next day or two even when i left a 'avon calling card'. Thoses that were in were either very rude, or elderly, or foreign and didnt understand (even after a lot of explaining and showing products in the c12 brochure)

What on earth am i doing wronge?! A whole road on my territory and nothing compleatly nothing!

Any ideas or suggestions on what to do to get these people even remotely interested in Avon? Or should i just forget about this road?

I would leave it a campaign and the revisit. Sometimes its good to let them forget about the book, then when they see it again, it will jog their memories and they may be interested.

Sometimes people need to see the information about the book at least 3-7 times before a connection is made. Maddening I know, but that's marketing for you.

Also, don't expect to get an order from every house, you might be lucky and get 1 customer per road initially. Gaining extra customers takes time and effort.

Never Give Up, turn negatives into positives, by being consistent, reliable and approachable.

I do a business management degree so i know a bit about marketing which i think your are going about the '7 strokes of makreting'

However i thought it was just odd that with a road with 50 houses know one was remotely interested. I thought with 50 there might probably be at least one remotly interested person.

Thanks for the advice i think i will deliver to that road the c14 as it has the sale brochure hopefully with not getting c13 like you say and a sale will get them interested.

I got about 3 extra orders from doing the tea bag poem this campaign, was really pleased as they are big orders!

These are some great ideas thank you. I like the teabag and sweets idea.
When collecting brochures from potential new customers. I try and engage them in a chat at the door
and hopefully they will order next time.

I have also had a few that have made good orders but not answered their door when i returned or contacted me after i left a calling card. Its more annoying when you know they are in. So i have been doing a process of elimination and asking those who do come to the door if they would like a brochure dropping in next time.
