Please feel free to post to this sticky thread any low cost/mass coverage Avon Advertising Ideas you may have.
The purpose of this thread is to gather our thoughts, put them in a bowl, stir them a little and see what we can make of it at the end so don't be afraid to think outside the box ladies, no idea is silly and by the end of it we may even end up with a Avon Marketing Masterplan
I was thinking about making a Bebo page and naming it "Club Avon" for Avon Girls. Bebo has thousands of teenage girls over 18 and it would be a good way to plant the idea in their heads. I want to look into it a little more though before I figure out how best to market it to them without looking like we're only on to push Avon to the masses but the general idea is sound enough. I'll have a good look at it over the weekend and post my results
sounds good. I'm in a few AVON groups on facebook, but they dont get much interest i think. But maybe we could come up with the ultimate bebo and facebook club!

I think if we all get together and do this it will be seen more, and active clubs always generate more interest. This is a good idea.
This idea is well known, and hardly original, but I post it as a reminder.
Get your leaflets and/or posters and get local businesses to display them. Ask supermarkets if they'll put some in their staff canteen. Use the doctor surgery, library, community centres etc. Think where the locals spend time and make sure your posters/leaflets are visible.
Students!
Local college/university (students love to do AVON to earn extra money) What sites do students visit? advertise there. If there are bebo/facebook groups for students and/or specific colleges/universities advertise there. In fact refer them hereand everyone can benefit!
I had a custom sticker made for the back window of my car which just says - Join Avon For Fast Extra Cash - and my mobile number below it. I now have four more in my team than I would have had if I didnt have it. It only cost around £15 for the sticker to be made and fitted by a local car livery (Yellow Pages) company so is worth thinking about if you drive

Discovered that the US site of Vistaprint (.com) are currently offering free postcards with quite good designs on. Only $10 (about £5) postage and the postcards x100 are free!
I've asked for some with the Avon business opportunity on one side, and on the other about hosting an Avon party. Then I'm going to ask at shops etc if I can leave a few (and only a few, cos they won't appreciate loads) on the counter. Mix them up so that the same side is not always showing, that way people may see both sides of the card and hopefully will be interested in one of them!
I'll let you know how they look and whether they are effective later on.
at school and playschool this morning i noticed in the entrances a table laid out with gifts to order. I've often bought off of the book clubs that leave books in school, and last week there were handbags selling in school!
so i thought why not do up a basket of avon products, to lay on the table in school. Not so much the make up as thats more personel but things like the ella ballerina stuff, and bags, and jewellery, and gifts.
i'll offer the school 10% too.
I'm gonna get my head around what to do, and aim to start it in september after the holidays. could be a winner with xmas around the corner.
What do you think?

Hey Wendy, I think that's a great idea! We have a 'book club' in our office, which is next door to a play group and a pre-school. Never thought of that.
I think I can do something similar - but I think you're wise to organise yourself over the holidays and start next term.
Sounds like an great idea and I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be interested in 10%. I wish I'd read this thread before the nursery school closed for the summer I'll have a word with them in September too.
I have aldo used vistaprint for business cards and postcards. The goods are of excellent quality. P&P and VAT adds a lot to the bill, but if you sign up for their newsletter you can order stuff when they've got massive sales and freebies on offer.
I've put a newsletter together for inclusion in C13 highlighting new products and special offers.
If anyone wants a copy for inspiration then please feel free to send me your email and I'll send it.
If it's something you intend to use regularly maybe we could all take it in turns to do it each campaign?

I would like a copy for inspiration. I would also be happy to take it in turns with any interested party, as doing a new newsletter everytime is a bit more time consumng than I can handle atm. If we all banded together and shared the effort it would benefit us all, and our customers
On the subject of VistaPrint, you can also get a small car magnet for free and place that on your car. When you drive around or parked peope can see it and get your info and call or email you. Right now they have 500 premium businesses card for free with s/h charges.
I am thinking about using vistaprint to make loyalty vouchers, i'm not sure if I'll make them get X off when you spend y or more, or whether i'll make them a % discount. The plan is to give them to customers near christmas, maybe 1 or 2 campaings before it if they've spend so much over the course of the year. Then again, if I only have say - 30 postcards i'll probably give my top 20 customers 1 each, then the other 10 will be randomly distributed.
Personalised keyrings are a good idea. I came across the idea earlier today while window shopping at a gift shop and spotted simple little keyrings with peoples first names in (you've all seen them before).
Instead of first names though as not everyone is called Mary or Brenda, I was thinking more along the lines of Mum, Sister or Daughter and on the flip side of course "join Avon today and earn extra £££" or something of the sort.
These could be given away as freebies to anyone who wants one and the good thing about them is people will keep nice keyrings before they keep a flyer and other people are bound to see it too at some point...
I'm going to look into how much it'll cost ect so if anyone else is interested let me know and we might be able to turn it into a plan of action
Hi guys, heres a thread I think belongs here but rather than move it across I thought I would leave the link. A couple of the girls seemed to get a good response with this idea.
Start a new group on facebook/bebo?
I have tried to start my own little group 'avon products for you in Kingston Upon Thames' (in facebook) but haven't had aaaaanybody joining since like forever, only have 7ppl on it. I have now added ad on my website of its existance, so we'll c if I get better response.
Hi vistaprint also do a small car door manet and if you watch the site you can get for just the price of the postage. I thought of buying this as I think it should be an effective way of drawing attention to your avon business. Also you could try using your old brochures and print out a flyer inviting people to join your team and put them in hairdressers, the dentist, doctors waiting rooms and also in local shops. Liz
Just been reading down the posts and vista print features a lot, I have just ordered large & small fridge magnets, business cards, post cards, stamps, xmas cards, calenders, pens, car magnet all free from the website, I got an e mail full of links for the freebies. If anyone wants the e mail with the free links just e mail me and Ill forward it, cost me £20 p+p though.
Ive been looking at newspaper advertising and a lot of the small local newspapers do advertising for free or next to nothing, some give a big discount if its last minute and some offer discounts if its placed well in advance so its down to the paper really. For a complete list of newspapers (local & national) go to www.mediauk.com
